Cousins! Former manager to R. Kelly has landed himself one year in prison after poor placement in both judgement and loyalty, following failed attempts to silence a series of women from speaking on sexual abuse claims they allegedly endured at the hands of the defamed singer.

Donnell Russell has been found guilty of his attempt to stop attendees from viewing a 2018 New York screening of the Lifetime docuseries, “Surviving R.Kelly”. He is said to have called in a fake emergency threat of a shooting to a Manhattan theater, that someone at the event had a gun and had plans to open fire. The event was cancelled and further lead to an immediate evacuation.

According to the New York Post, Donnell explained on Monday as he received his sentencing that he was not a bad person. It has been confirmed that the newly issued charge will not add to the time he’s already expected to serve following previous federal crimes charged against him.

Prior to the fake emergency call , Donnell had also been working to silence a series of women seeking to come forward with claims about Kelly. He had been found guilty of threatening at least one accuser.

U.S District Judge Paul Gardephe identified the ex manager as someone who played a part in a, “serious criminal crime.” The 47 year old said that he had bad taste in judgement while working for Kelly, while stating”I’m not a horrible person.”

Donnell detailed that he had initially met Kelly decades ago before he began working hands-on for him. He shared that many years later he teamed up with the Grammy award winning song-writer to help Kelly with intellectual property issues which further allowed him to pay his legal bills.

The “Surviving R.Kelly,” docuseries consisted of various women and girls detailing traumatic alleged instances they endured at the hands of Kelly. It has been stated that some of the accusers had been expected to attend the premiere and speak on a panel.

Kelly has already been convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering back in 2021 where he was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He is currently awaiting additional sentencing after being convicted of producing child pornography and enticing girls in Chicago for sex.

The hearing is scheduled for February 23rd, 2o23.
