Claressa Shields says there’s a false narrative being pushed and she’s not going for it!
Appearing in the latest episode of Cam Newton’s‘Funky Friday’ podcast, Claressa was asked about her relationship with Papoose and claims that she broke up his marriage to Remy Ma.
The heavy weight champion revealed that she tries not to answer or react to questions about Remy. ” I try to avoid this conversation here about mentioning the ex. What I’m talking about you for? We not gon’ fight. That’s not my lane, you do what you do I do what I do.”
“People like to make it seem like there’s an intertwine, it’s a drama and it’s not. It’s me and Pap”
Papoose and Remy Ma were once celebrated as one of the most influential couple’s in Hip Hop as they often celebrated the power of Black love. The couple wed over the phone in 2008 while Remy was serving a six-year prison sentence. They welcomed their first child together in daughter together in 2018.

“There’s a narrative that you broke up a happy home, ‘ asked Cam.
“And I told you that never happen.”
“I let them run with that narrative because what they tell us as celebrities, ‘don’t respond to it, don’t say nothing,’ and I had a movie coming out around that time. I’m not about to explain to nobody what she did before I met him,” said Claressa.
According to Claressa, Pap and Remy’s marriage had already reached it’s breaking point years before she even knew him. She explained that the only reason she never spoke out directly about being labeled a mistress at the time was because her biopic had just hit theaters.
“There’s a timeline between there stuff.”
“I met him 2024, July 6th to be exact. It wasn’t a happy home to break up,” said Claressa.
Though an official timeline has never been confirmed, there were whispers dated back to 2022 that Remy Ma was involved with fellow battle rapper Eazy The Block Captain. In December 2024, Remy shared text messages between Papoose and Claressa on social media accusing them of having an affair.
