Cousins, please join us in sending our deepest condolences to the family and friends of beloved actress Sonya Eddy following reports of her recent passing!
The veteran actress had been well known since the 90’s for her beloved role on the legendary soap-opera “General Hospital”.
A tribute was issued along with a statement from executive producer Frank Valentini to the ABC’s verified Instagram account. He shares that he is “heartbroken about the loss.”
“I truly loved her, not only as an actress, but as a friend,” the post read. “The lights in the hub of the nurse’s station will now be a little dimmer, but her spirit and light will live on in both the show and our set.”
According to CNN Sonya had appeared in 550 episodes of ‘General Hospital,’ effortlessly winning the hearts of many. She also appeared in shows such as “Murphy Brown,” “Seinfeld,” “ER,” “Felicity,” “Fresh Off the Boat” and “Pen15.”
Fellow actress Octavia Spencer had also paid tribute to Sonya on Instagram within a shared post. “The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her,” she wrote.
“My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!”
