Claressa Shields is addressing the conversation surrounding her relationship with Papoose and the ongoing controversy involving his pending divorce from Remy Ma!
During a recent interview, the boxing champion pushed back against claims that she is involved with someone else’s husband, making it clear that she believes the situation has been misrepresented.
“Wait, pause. ‘Cause that’s not somebody’s husband,” Shields said. “Papoose filed for divorce. Y’all hate to say that word, but it’s the word that’s out there. He filed for divorce because he’s serious about me.”
Shields also addressed criticism that she became part of a public narrative surrounding the former couple, explaining that breakups and divorces happen every day, even though celebrity relationships often receive heightened attention.

“People go through divorces and breakups more than anything in the world. That’s why it’s such a big talk,” she said.
The undisputed boxing champion acknowledged that divorce is a process and that Papoose is still navigating the legal steps. However, she stood firm that the situation should not be viewed as her being with someone who is still married.
Shields also questioned why Papoose is still being referred to as a husband while Remy Ma is not held to the same standard, adding that if the public wants to use that title, the conversation should apply equally.
