Creator of the Black-ish franchise Kenya Barris is set to produce, write and direct a biopic film based on the life and legendary comedian and actor Richard Pryor!
According to the Hollywood Reporter Barris will work closely with Pryor’s widow Jennifer Lee Pryor to develop the film.
“The way Pryor did what he did — with truth and specificity that was somehow self-aware and self-deprecating, and said with an unmatched level of vulnerability — that was the power and impact of his work,” state’s Barris within a forwarded statement.
“Pryor had a voice that was distinctly his and, in many ways, comedy since then has been derivative of what he created. To me, this is a film about that voice, the journey that shaped it, and what it took for it to come to be.”
Richard Pryor is highly celebrated for his iconic career within comedy and film. He has a legacy that spans over multiple decades and earned him multiple academy awards.
There has been no word of when the film will be released or which actors will be featured.
