As debates continue online following this year’s BAFTAs where the n-word was shouted while Academy Award-nominated actors Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage — Lindo is now speaking out about how the situation was mishandled!

In a post-ceremony interview with Variety, Lindo shared his disappointment that no one from BAFTA reached out to him or Jordan afterward. The two were presenting during the ceremony when the slur was yelled from the audience, by Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson instantly creating an uncomfortable atmosphere and a widely discussed moment.

Despite the disruption, the Sinners cast members maintained their composure and continued with the presentation.

“We did what we had to do,” Lindo stated, emphasizing their professionalism under pressure. However, he noted that he wished “someone from BAFTA spoke to us afterwards.”

While it appears neither actor received a direct apology or private conversation that evening, BAFTA has since released an official statement acknowledging the incident and promising to handle situations like this more effectively moving forward.

In a statement issued on Monday, BAFTA said that it took “full responsibility” for putting its “guests in a very difficult situation and we apologise to all.” It also said it wanted to “apologise unreservedly” to Jordan and Lindo. “We would like to thank Michael and Delroy for their incredible dignity and professionalism.”
