Beloved actress Lynn Whitfield is sending BIG love to Black women who are feeling a little discouraged in today’s dating scene!
While discussing her newly released film ‘Albany Road’ at this year’s Urban World Film Festival, Lynn provided us with solid advice for the ladies experiencing difficulties in the love department.
“Don’t give up on yourself.”
“Idon’t think the right love will give up on you. —-If you are feeling that way, which i have felt that way, you don’t give up on yourself,” Lynn added.
The iconic actress suggested for ladies to focus on themselves while nurturing their own well being and that the right person will recognize the queen in them.
“—It’s not about giving anything up. it’s about not being needy. Continue to nurture yourself until the right person recognizes the queen that you are.”

The romantic-drama written and directed by Christine Swanson tells the story of a New York executive who is forced to share a rental car with her ex-fiance’s mother; ultimately discovering the secret she has been hiding.
Christine describe’s the movie as a feel good film serving as the perfect display of Black joy, humanity and resilience.
“ I found the piece itself to be very well written, and the themes of it were really important,” said Lynn while explaining how she was drawn to the film. “It’s a very contemporary story—- a true dramedy. Each and every character is a strong character, male, or female. And I just love it.”
In celebration of Urban World Film Festival 28th anniversary attendees were able to enjoy screenings of ‘Albany Road’ as well as other films including ‘Unstoppable’ starring Jennifer Lopez, Don Cheadle, and Jharrel Jerome; Fannie, Dream Hampton’s hip hop documentary ‘It Was All A Dream’, Nickel Boys and more.
