Noir Nation, Bath, and Body Works have officially removed a series of seasonal candles from their shelves following the circulated backlash they received for a design that seemingly resembles Ku Klux Klan hoods!

According to USA TODAY, the company has stated that the snowflake design was intended to celebrate the upcoming holiday season with a homage to snowflakes and winter weather.

However social media users took offense to the candle naming it a ‘Klandle’ or ‘KKKandle’ after reviewing the the series of cutout jokes and pointy snowflake tips.

Reports read that complaints began to surface online less than a week after the seasonal candles’ debut.

“Bath & Body Works is apologizing and pulling a candle from its shelves and online platform after catching backlash for seemingly depicting a KKK hood-like design.👎”Really B&BW!!? If we noticed, I’m sure you did to, but you gave the “go ahead” anyway“ wrote one Twitter X user.

“Don’t be surprised if we do not see this one in store! Initially I did not see it but now I can’t unsee it!,” wrote an Instagram user.

While other social media users viewed the design as nonproblematic and accused others of being overly dramatic.

“It’s a snowflake! Just like people triggered by this! Always looking for something! 🙄”

In response to the backlash Bath and Body Works issued an apology while noting that they have listened to members of their team as well as customers regarding the issue.

“At Bath & Body Works, we are committed to listening to our teams and customers, and committed to fixing any mistakes we make – even those that are unintentional like this one,” Bath & Body Works said in a statement, shared with USA TODAY.

“We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and are evaluating our process going forward.”

In 2022 Bath and Body Works was accused of culture appropriation following the release of their Black History Month edition candles as the displayed packaging was wrapped in Kente cloth.
