BET Takes Over Philly For National Black Voter Day With Annual Vote Fest!

A time was had in the City of Brotherly Love as the folks of BET held their annual Voter Fest in celebration of National Black Voter Day 🗳️👏🏿

BET’s fifth annual Vote Fest kicked off at The Met Philadelphia on Friday September 20th with the initiative of educating Black youth members on the importance of voting.The event served as a high energy pep rally fueled with music and impactful conversation in efforts of strengthening the Black vote at the polls.

“We are dedicated to educating and amplifying the voices of Black voters and the issues most relevant to the Black community,” said Kimberly Paige, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer at BET. “National Black Voter Day is about ensuring our community’s voice is loud, clear, and impossible to ignore.”

Attendees were able to register for the upcoming election while gaining valuable information on the upcoming election as well as enjoying a free concert headlined by a few of their favorite artists in the music industry.

BET also successfully launched a full day of activities dedicated to gaining engagement from the Black community across the country ranging from social media content, voter registration tools, and digital campaigns. 

This year’s Voter Fest hosted by Yandy Smith-Harris and Beano French welcomed a new generation of leaders with performances from Lincoln University Marching Band, JT, Philly’s own Kur, Pusha T, and more.

City council members including members of Urban League were also in attendance in efforts to push the envelope to let folks know BLACK VOTES MATTER.

“We know that Pennsylvania is a key state in this national election,” BET Executive Vice President of Insights and Multiplatform Analytics Tiyale Hayes said, “and what we know from our data is 65% of all registered Black voters live in the Philadelphia DMA [designated market area].”
