Cousins!

California state may be up one soon following talks of shortening the work week down to only 4 days and 32 hours a week for employees of large companies!

According to CNBC news, state officials are currently in talks with legislatures to possibly reduce the mandatory work week for companies that have a total of 500 workers or more.

Reports read that within the new order employees wouldn’t undergo a pay cut and that employees that choose to work more hours will be compensated at a rate of no lower than 1.5 times the employee’s regulated rate.

The newly proposed change is said to be deeply reflective of the Pandemic as Democratic Assembly member Cristina Garcia says, “the time for change is now.”

“It doesn’t make sense that we are still holding onto a work schedule that served the Industrial Revolution.”

Reports from the U.S Department of Labor confirm that over 48 million Americans walked away from their jobs last year, and that the numbers are continuing to go up. It has been stated that 4.4 million workers quit in February.

“Labor costs are often one of the highest costs a business faces,” Ashley Hoffman, public policy advocate at the California Chamber Commerce wrote in a letter to Assembly member Evan Low, another Democratic sponsor of the bill.

“Such a large increase in labor costs will reduce businesses’ ability to hire or create new positions and will therefore limit job growth in California.”

Cousins, are y’all here for the 4 day work week or nah?
