Cousins! A heartbreaking story has left a local town in South Carolina shaken as a teenage girl was discovered deceased while officially nine months pregnant!
WSB-TV 2 News confirms that 17 year old Maylashia Shantebia Hogg’s lifeless body was sadly found Sunday February 18th, alongside the wood line area of Perry Street and Main Street near Fuller Park of Barnwell around 3:45 PM. Reports read that the location is less than thirty mile from the border of East Augusta, Georgia.
Maylashia’s family tells authorities that she was last seen alive on either February 6th or 7th at their family’s Washington Street home, just two blocks from where her body was discovered.
The People Sentinel reports that the teen was reported missing on February 8th and that the Barnwell Police Department (BPD) had been instructed to carefully patrol the city in search of Maylashia.
She was scheduled to be induced on February 13th in hopes of delivering her child on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. Her family confirms that she was pregnant with a baby girl.
Circulated reports confirm that Chief Robert Miller personally notified the seventeen-year-old’s family of her passing.
According to WSB-TV 2, it has not been determined at this time if South Carolina police officers have identified any suspects.
Sources state that Maylashia’s body was transferred to Newberry and is scheduled for an autopsy on Wednesday, February 21st, reports WJCL.
Maylashia’s death is now under investigation by the Barnwell police department, SLED, and the Coroner’s Office.
