Congratulations are in order for Charlamagne Tha God!
The media mogul has officially secured a massive five-year, $200 million deal with iHeartMedia, further solidifying his dominance in the podcast and radio space.
According to a new Forbes report, the deal keeps Charlamagne as a co-host on the iconic, long-running morning show The Breakfast Club, which is syndicated across more than 100 iHeartMedia stations nationwide. In addition to his on-air role, the agreement significantly expands his joint podcast venture, The Black Effect Network, in partnership with iHeartMedia.
Charlamagne, 47, has been vocal about his long-term vision for the platform, previously stating that he is building “the BET of podcasting” a platform focused on developing, distributing, and monetizing Black-led audio content at scale.
Launched in 2020, The Black Effect Network has seen rapid growth. Per Deadline, the network now boasts over 60 shows and generates approximately 11 million monthly listens.
Meanwhile, The Breakfast Club remains the flagship program, with its podcast replay surpassing 1 billion downloads earlier this year, reports Afrotech.
“People really do understand the business of podcasting now,” Charlamagne shared, per Forbes. “You could look at somebody’s audio downloads and know what they should be being paid.”
