Cousins! NBA all-star Kyrie Irving is looking real unbothered after Nike announced earlier today that they are officially cutting ties with him just one month after his suspension!
The athletic brand suspended him following a tweet in regard to a controversial antisemitic film. This news comes despite Kyrie issuing a series of apologies as well as completing a long list of additionally required steps.
In a previously aired interview with Nike Chairman and co-founder Phil Knight stated that Kyrie’s relationship with Nike was most likely over. “Kyrie stepped over the line. It’s kind of that simple.”
“He made some statements that we just can’t abide by, and that’s why we ended the relationship. I was fine with that.”
According to TMZ, Kyrie officially joined forces with Nike back in 2014. Within the partnership he was able to release his signature fan favorite Kyrie 1 basketball shoes.
