The school year has officially begun and it’s kicking off with some new changes for the students of NYC as snow days have been taken off the table!

According to the NY Post, Chancellor David Banks said on Tuesday instead of kids enjoying a day at home due to the inclement weather, they will now be able to receive their lessons at home virtually. “There are technically no more snow days.”

“With the new technology that we have – that’s one of the good things that came out of COVID – if a snow day comes around, we want to make sure that our kids continue to learn.”

Chancellor Banks continue, “So, sorry kids! No more snow days, but it’s gonna be good for you!”

Reports read that the new Snow day policy was originally introduced back in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. The uncertainty that took over NYC, forced students into remote learning which was ultimately pushed throughout 2021.

“On ‘snow days’ or days when school buildings are closed due to an emergency, all students and families should be prepared for their children to appear remotely online from home.

Reports read that under New York law, students must attend classes 180 out of 365 days. It appears that skipping snow days will the Department Of Education meet the issued standards.
