Krispy Kreme announced on National Doughnut Day (June 3) that they’ll be giving customers a free glazed donut throughout the warm season!

The giveaway ends on Labor Day. According to the food franchise’s Twitter page, they’re being generous because “with all that’s going on in the world, a free treat is the sweetest treat!“

To collect a delectable donut, the company’s signature hot light must be on. Most of these special hours run from 6 AM-10 AM and 5 PM-8 PM. 

As stated by Scary Mommy, Krispy Kreme dropped a statement saying they’ll be giving away “original glazed doughnuts during hot light hours throughout summer, and ‘Beat the Pump’ dozens return each Wednesday through Labor Day!“

Their ‘Beat The Pump’ promotion lets customers purchase 12 doughnuts for the current gas price of a gallon. ‘Beat The Pump’ will run until August 31st, 2022.

These two specials aren’t available for online ordering, delivery, or drive-through. Krispy Kreme aims to bring “a bit of everyday joy for guests and a chance to share with others.”

Krispy Kreme’s chief marketing officer Dave Skena elaborated on why he chose to conduct this summertime promotion. He said via Scary Mommy,

“With inflation on gas prices and everything else showing no signs of easing, we hope to brighten everyone’s day, every day, this summer with our Sweet New Deal, whether it’s stopping by to grab a free hot, fresh Original Glazed doughnut for yourself or picking up a dozen on Wednesdays for the same price as a gallon of gas.” 

Download the Krispy Kreme app to stay updated on the hot light hours. Put on your push notifications to know the exact time of each ‘hot light’ special. You can also go on their website to find your location. The hours depend on which shop you go to.
