This year’s list of Time’s Most Influential People has Black girl magic on full display!

The nineteenth annual Time’s Most Influential list has been announced and a couple of our favs have landed on the list. For over a decade, the magazine has given people their flowers that have successfully broken barriers in various areas of the industries while powerfully making an impact on the world.

This year’s TIME 100 included surprising pairings of influencers with their peers showing respect and gratitude for the hard work they have showcased. Each influencer is placed into categories, including artists, innovators, giants, leaders, icons, and pioneers, as reported by New 7H. 

The Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul, Mary J Blige, graced the Icon category— who also was honored with the Icon Award at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. Showing great appreciation for his dear friend and colleague, Nas wrote a sweet message about Mary’s Iconic status.

“Mary came up the way we all did. She was a vocalist for us, but she was not like other R&B artists at the time. She soon became a household name as she was a hip-hop artist and also sang. The industry needs such a person. The streets want that. Pop culture wants that. And she’s the one giving it because she doesn’t fabricate it. She is the girl around the street with big earrings. She’s like the spokesperson for a particular type of girl who came from New York and walked out onto the street. “
