Cicely Tyson has successfully created a prestigious and impactful career in Hollywood for over sixty years. With numerous accolades, legendary roles in both film and television; Tyson continually reigns as Hollywood’s most elite actress at 95 years old!
According to #BlackNews ; the actress recently covered Time Magazine’s special “The Art Of Optimism” issue. Within an interview with Time Tyson revealed that she has has zero plans of retiring anytime soon.
“The reason why I have been in this universe as long as I have been is because he’s not ready for me,” said Tyson. “When I’ve completed my job, he’ll take me away. I know several people who have retired and then six months later, they’re gone.”
Tyson initially began her career in the 1960’s. With a long list of academy award wins and nominations she’s notably one of the most honored black female actresses within the industry.
“We have to honor this blessed gift that we have. That’s what keeps you going. Keeps your mind fluid — your heart, your whole being. You can’t just stop, because that will be the end of you,” states Tyson.
Tyson currently appears on the ABC network original series How To Get Away With Murder. She plays the role of Viola Davis mother .
