How many of us wish that our parents would’ve taught us how to handle our money better? Or that we would’ve attended a school where financial literacy was apart of a mandatory curriculum? Many of us find ourselves struggling financially, spending endlessly and living check to check within our adult lives, solely because we simply weren’t offered the fundamental tools of financial literacy growing up. However it’s never too late to fix this issue for ourselves and future generations to come.

According to #ComplexMagazine both #WillSmith and #Nas have decided to fully invest in a teen financial education and literacy app. Sources have indicated that the app is to be named Step. Step will consist of a full service bank account that will have no minimum balance or fees. The app will forward advice on how to manage money effectively. It has also been stated that the app will be integrated with Apple Pay and various money transfer accessible applications. Parents will also be granted full access to their children’s account, which will enable them to set limits and guidelines.

Schools don’t teach kids about money,” states Step CEO and co-founder CJ MacDonald. “We want to be their first bank accounts with spending cards, but we also want to teach financial literacy and responsibility. Banks don’t tailor to this, and we want to be a solution teaching the next generation of adults to be more responsible with money in the cashless era. It was easy with cash to go to the mall but now everyone is using their phone for Uber and more.”
