Tennessee Officials Continue Investigation Following Mother’s Overpass Jump To Death While Holding Her Son!

An active investigation is still underway following the tragic suicide incident of a Tennessee mother clinching her son as she jumped from an overpass to her death!

The incident took place on January 4th, 2021 around 1230 am within the north Jackson area as emergency dispatch was contacted after a woman was seen attempting to crash her car into a local gas pump.

According to WSW a witness states the woman exited her vehicle and began to walk towards the edge of an overpass ultimately disappearing.

It has been indicated that moments later a driver contacted officials while traveling on westbound of Interstate 40 stating that something had hit his truck.

When officials arrived they discovered lifeless bodies later identified as Tonisha Lashay Barker, 26 and her 21 month old son Jonathan Jones.

Tonisha’s grandmother revealed to local news that her granddaughter was depressed and had lost her job at a state COVID-19 testing site in December.

“It’s heartbreaking to have that situation this morning, especially when someone loses their life. It’s hard on everybody, especially the driver of the vehicle. It’s just a bad situation that we hate to ever receive,” reads a statement from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Tonisha’s friends and family took to social media following her death recalling a wonderful person she was also sharing that they didn’t known the full extent of her depression.
