For the first time ever the #Atlanta general #TipHarris has been on the wrong side of things after speaking publicly of having his daughter’s hymen checked annually. Since then multiple social media users have spent the last few weeks dragging him for his peculiar parenting tactics.
Within the latest episode of the #RedTableTalk , TI and his wife Tameka “ Tiny” Harris sat down for an in-depth conversation with #JadaPinkettSmith and her mother #AdrienneBanfieldNorris.
T.I started the two part interview off by saying that his recent statement was over exaggerated and embellished, reports Billboard.
“I think people kinda took it extremely literal, because if you put any of my reputation — who I am as a father, who I been — I honestly thought people knew me better than that,” he said. “However, my intentions, I think, have been terribly misconstrued and misconceived,”he states.
He goes on to state that he has never been present in an examination room with his daughter and has never scheduled an appointment for her intentionally; despite his statements on the Ladies Like Us Podcast. Though he did apologize for speaking freely on the topic he stated he was unaware of how sensitive the issue would be considered.
“She did have a problem with me talking about it, however, and I understand that,” Tip states. “I am incredibly apologetic to her for that. Not to any of these other strangers or any of these weirdos who, you know, just kinda toss lies around for fun. She understands my intentions and she knows who I am.”
Jada also made sure to pinpoint the difference within treatment and tactics that Tip uses for his daughter as oppose to his son’s.
“I made the comparison of a son versus a daughter. If my son goes out and gets a girl pregnant, how does the household change for those nine months?” Tip responds with a question to Jada’s statement. “The household doesn’t really change much. Whereas if my daughter comes home, my household does change immediately.”
