Cousins! R. Kelly is currently fighting a previously issued lawsuit that granted multiple women nearly 11 million dollars due to alleged threats in efforts of canceling a screening of the ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ docuseries!

According to TMZ, Kelly is arguing that he had no knowledge of the lawsuit and wasn’t aware that it existed. The defamed singer explained that he has the reading level of a grade schooler and that his legal matters were handled by his attorneys.

Kelly noted that changes in his legal representation during the suit also led to the matter going unnoticed. He also expressed that he solely relies on his lawyers to explain any issues he’s facing directly to him.

As we previously reported Kelly and his former manager Donnell Russell were accused of making a series of threats to silence six women who appeared in the ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ docuseries.

It has been stated that Kelly and Donnell had allegedly issued threats to sue the women and producers of the limited series.

Kelly is now arguing that Donnell wasn’t ever his manager and acted alone. He expressed that Donnell should be held responsible for all legal action if he threatened to prevent the screening, “he did that for his own reasons.”

In response to the issued lawsuit, Donnell was ordered to serve a one-year jail sentence in 2022.

As we previously reported the defamed singer was found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking in 2022. Kelly is currently serving out a 30-year prison sentence in North Carolina.

He was also convicted of child sex crimes, and sentenced to another 20 years behind bars.
