Cousins! Jada Pinkett Smith is gearing up to set the record straight on a few things as she announces her memoir dropping this fall titled “WORTHY” !
The Baltimore, Maryland native shares that the book will explore her journey within motherhood, marriage, self-betrayal, and more within her own words as she reclaims the narrative surrounding her life.
On Thursday, June 29th Jada took to Instagram to reveal the cover art and title of her forthcoming memoir. “I invite you into a journey that, understandably, many think they already know.”
“The fact that I have, in the last four years contributed to the creation and perpetuation of falsehoods about myself, in which other untrue narratives were birthed, has surely aided in the misunderstandings that surround me,” wrote Jada.
“This fall, with deep humility and respect, I will take back my narrative.”
“It’s a harrowing ride of reclaiming my self-worth while unraveling unspoken truths. My adventures of my youth, meaningful friendships, marriage, motherhood, self-betrayal, and self-reclamation are mere reflections of the adventures so many of us have taken in search of happiness,” wrote the 51-year-old.
Jada originally revealed in 2022 to PEOPLE, that she would be releasing a memoir that would answer the long list of assumptions the public have about her.
“Chronicles lessons learned in the course of a difficult but riveting journey — a rollercoaster ride from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of personal rediscovery and the celebration of authentic feminine power,” reads an exclusive press release from PEOPLE.
“With no holds barred, Jada reveals her unconventional upbringing in Baltimore — from the child of two addicts to a promising theatre student and a violent interlude as a petty drug dealer — followed by a parallel rise to stardom alongside her close friend 2Pac, then falling in love with and marrying Will Smith, and a joyous embrace of motherhood.”
In regards to why Jada feels it is important to release her life’s story to the public at this point in her life, she says, “So many people feel because of my talk show Red Table Talk that they know my journey. And they really don’t. There’s been so much about my journey that I haven’t really been able to share on a format like RTT,” she says in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.
As fans await the highly anticipated memoir they’ll be excited to know that Jada’s online talk show “The Red Table Talk,” will be making a comeback.
Jada says that despite being canceled on Facebook Watch a few months back the show is being shopped around to other networks. “It’s definitely coming back. We’ve had a couple platforms reach out to us. And we have some interesting avenues that we’re looking at now. You know me, I’m always looking for the next innovative thing.”
