Cousins! The verdict is in and it appears that a Houston Grand Jury has decided to not be pursuing criminal charges against Travis Scott following the death of 10 people at his 2021 Astro World festival!

On Thursday, June 29th Travis alongside several organizers and workers of the Astroworld Festival have been cleared of criminal charges, reports RollingStone.

As we previously reported ten people died following a lethal crowd rush at the festival while Travis was performing. It has been stated that hundreds of people were also injured as attendees piled on top of one another, leading to a chaotic series of trampling. Online users and attendees blamed the rapper for the incident stating that he failed to pause his performance to check what was taking place around him.

“My client Travis Scott will not be charged with criminal charges or any wrongdoing for his involvement with AstroWorld festival. Today’s decision by the Harris County District Attorney confirms what we have known all along — that Travis Scott is not responsible for the AstroWorld tragedy, “ stated Travis attorney Kent Schaffer within a forwarded statement.

“This is consistent with investigative reporting by numerous media outlets and federal and state government reports that have squarely placed the onus for event safety crises on organizers, operators, and contractors — not performers,” Schaffer’s statement continues.

“While waiting patiently for the District Attorney’s decision to not file charges, Travis Scott has been inaccurately and wrongly singled out, despite stopping the show three separate times and being unaware of the events as they were unfolding. Now that this chapter is closed, we hope for the government efforts to focus on what is most important — stopping future heartbreaking tragedies like AstroWorld from ever occurring again.”

Schaffer stated early on that he didn’t expect for Travis to face criminal charges. “Nothing Travis did or failed to do fits within the Texas criminal code.”

Reports read that Travis has remained his innocence in denying the allegations regarding his responsibility over the disaster. Before the recently issued verdict, the father of two has motioned for the hundreds of issued lawsuits filed by festival attendees to be dismissed.

Live Nation and their subsidiary Scoremore have also motioned to dismiss the suits.
