Noir Nation; a Georgia State University student is speaking out for the very first time after being brutally attacked over the weekend!
22 year old Amaris was seen in a now viral video released by police being closely followed by a man twice her size. Amaris says she had exited MARTA station and was running a few errands before heading to get her nails done.
The video shows Amaris at the intersection of 10th Street and West Peachtree Street as the male moved in on her. She says she attempted to cross the street without her people in hopes of him getting any closer as she overheard him say, “I got the pistol. She’s not going nowhere.”
Moments later the male grabbed Amari, punching her in the back and wrestling her to the ground. While bystanders from both sides of the street watched, the man continued to hover over her before snatching her phone and running off as bystanders watched.
“I feel extremely unsafe. I stay downtown. I don’t have a car. I am a college student. MARTA is a part of my everyday livelihood.” Amaris says she doesn’t fault anyone for not stepping in, “ I’ve learned very early on no one’s coming to save you.”
According to 11 Alive News, Amaris suffered injuries to her back and ankle. “Just the fact that you can be stalked and pinpointed like that, with all these other people on the street. I don’t have anything to give. I have lip gloss, that’s it. It’s trifling. That’s just the best way I can put it.”
Amaris says she doesn’t plan to use MARTA anymore and is now working towards getting a car.
