Cousins! Oprah Winfrey is calling out a weightloss company that has seemingly plastered her face and name to a series of their products in effort to push sales!
An official lawsuit was filed on Wednesday, June 7th by Harpo Inc. also identified as Oprahâs production company and owner of the brand Oprah brand, reports Yahoo News. It has been stated that the suit was filed to the US District Court for the Central District of California.
Obtained court documents show that Oprah is taking legal action against the companies of Emblaze One, Limitless X Inc., and additional brands that have been reportedly promoting âOprah Winfrey Keto Gummiesâ and âOprah Winfrey CBD Gummiesâ online. Within the suit, the 69-year-old accuses the companies of misleading her fans into thinking she has signed off on the weight loss brandâs products.
She is currently requesting that the company be prohibited from using her name and that all profit sales for each item that has benefited from her name be forwarded to her.
âWhen consumers see advertisements like this one, the only logical conclusion is that Ms. Winfrey and/or her company signed off on the use of âOprah Keto Pillsâ and the pills do in fact work,â reads the suit.
âThe unlawful actions of Defendants amount to a willful and conscious disregard for [Oprahâs] rights and are intentionally designed to capitalize on the goodwill, celebrity and/or fame associated with Ms. Winfrey and/or the OPRAH brand,â declares Oprahâs attorney.
As per CNN news, Oprah had taken to social media back in 2022 to speak on the issue as she informed fans that she had no ties to any of the weight loss companies using her name or photo to push their products. âI have nothing to do with weight loss gummies or diet pills and I donât want you all taken advantage of by people misusing my name.â
âThere have been social media ads, emails, and fake websites going out and I want you to hear it straight from me, that I have nothing to do with them. Please donât be taken advantage of and donât give your personal information to them, â said Oprah in a video.
