Cousins!

The world is slowly but surely changing within the right direction and we are here for all of it!

On Tuesday afternoon the Senate passed a unanimous resolution establishing June 19th also identified as Juneteenth National Independence Day, as a U.S federal holiday.

According to CNN the last step to make the bill official is for it to be passed by the House and signed by President Joe Biden.

Juneteenth signifies an important date in history as June.19th, 1865 is the day slavery was officially abolished.

Juneteenth was already celebrated in the state of Texas however only a handful of states followed suit in the last decade.

The major change derives from the death of George Floyd and the numerous impactful social justice movements that took place in 2020.

The bill was further pushed by Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Ed Markey and Texas Republican Sen. Corryn alongside Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.
