#Cousins; Black women have an unfortunate history of often being ignored when they come forward with health issues they are facing. Unfortunately a #Brooklyn, New York educator recently endured this treatment after visiting local hospitals numerous times due to severe complications. However it wasn’t until her third emergency room visit that she was offered a COVID-19 test!

Social studies teacher Rana Zoe Mungin, 30 of Ascend Academy had recently experienced what is being described as an eight-day odyssey that included an exceedingly high fever causing her to need a ventilator pipe to breath, reports WPIIX 11. It has been indicated that as severe and alarming Rana’s symptoms were they evaluated as nothing more than a panic attack.

“My sister went to the hospital on the 15th of March for fever and shortness of breath,” says Rana’s sister Mia Muggin tells PIX11. “They gave her albuterol for asthma and and gave her a shot of Toradol for her headache.” She says her sister began very often of extreme headaches she experienced and shortness of breath.

Reports read that Rana visited Brookdale hospital originally on March 15th and was giving Albuterol and medicine for the headaches she endured. She wasn’t given a COVID-19 test despite her symptoms, she was sent sent home. It has been noted that the shortness of breath continued from March 16th-18th.

For her second visit also by ambulance, a Doctor declared Rana’s lungs clear, stating that she had experienced a panic attack and that they weren’t going to give her a COVID-19 test because their supply was limited.

Rana was sent home again, unable to walk up the steps and stopped breathing in the middle of the night. She was then taken again to Brookdale Hospital, after three hours she was intubated and placed on a ventilator. Sources have concluded that Rana was then forwarded a one time experimental treatment for COVID-19 which has been highlighted as making her breathing stabilized but her overall condition has gotten worst

Mia states that her sister was approved for a transfer to another facility for treatment but it never happened. As of right now Rana’s family is working hard to get her the best treatment possible but due to the rapid spread of the virus its been extremely difficult.

Cousins lets continue to Rana and her family in our prayers!
