It’s getting real for former Spirit Airlines employees as layoffs hit hard, forcing many to seek financial help just to stay afloat!

Now, dozens of impacted workers are taking to GoFundMe, sharing emotional stories about how quickly life shifted. Many say they were let go without severance pay, with benefits cut off almost immediately—leaving them scrambling to cover basic living expenses.

“For the first time in my life, I have no idea how to face what comes next,” shared Jorge Luis Camacho Roman, who revealed he was laid off on his birthday after five years as a flight attendant.

“Bills have to be paid, and financially, I have nothing.”

According to Miami New Times, about 4,200 employees in Florida alone were impacted, highlighting just how widespread the layoffs have been.

“So much of my identity and daily life has been tied to my work in the skies, and it’s hard to imagine not being part of that world” reads another former Spirit employee of eight years Julian Richardson.

“I’m actively looking for new opportunities and hope to stay in the airline industry because it’s something I truly love,” he continued. “In the meantime, I’m reaching out for support to help cover my living costs while I search for my next role.”

From rent to groceries, former employees say the pressure is building up and fast. Now, many are leaning on community support as they navigate an uncertain next chapter, hoping to regain stability after being blindsided by the sudden cuts.
