Johnson initially began working for NASA’s affiliated program under the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics ( NACA) in the Langley Laboratory of Virginia. Sources have confirmed that Johnson had once stated that her greatest accomplishment has been helping put the men on the moon in 1969. Her calculations and specific formula assisted with the official syncing of Project Apollo’s Lunar Lander under the Command and Service Module.

Johnson is also recognized as being the first woman in the Flight Research Division to ever receive credit as an author of a research report. She also worked closely with Ted Skopinski on further detailing the equations that helped initiate a orbital spaceflight.

Johnson’s career and legacy extend throughout multiple decades. Her knowledge of math combined with science has helped changed the world forever!

Sleep in forever peace Ms. Johnson!
