Noir Nation! A Cook County judge has officially been reassigned after sharing a tasteless joke featuring an AI image of a young Black child alongside a fake toy titled, “ My First Ankle Monitor”

According to CWB Chicago, Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman has been reassigned and ordered to undergo bias training after sharing a screenshot of the offensive meme.

Reports read that Judge Glennon-Goodman screenshot an A.I generated image from a TikTok video. Court documents detail that she mistakenly forwarded a message to another judge instead of her intended recipient, with a caption that read, “My husband’s idea of Christmas humor”

Cook County Bar Association issued a statement Wednesday following an investigation. “It is our understanding that the photo was meant to be shared with a different audience and that the judge involved has apologized profusely. Nevertheless, such media is inappropriate to share regardless of the audience.”

“Any judge should be unbiased enough to not further circulate such a racist trope. The shared statement continues, “The imagery recalls our nation’s history of inappropriate media images of Black people (such as blackface) and such imagery continues to shape the opinions of Black people, particularly Black men.”

After further investigation, Chief Judge Timothy Evans declared the official reassignment of Judge Glennon-Goodman of her position at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

The judicial inquiry board will also determine “whether further sanction is warranted” in Glennon-Goodman’s case, the executive committee explained.

She will also have to receive “additional training, including the topic of implicit bias.”

Judge Glennon-Goodman’s previous position included decision-making regarding detention petitions and conditions for the release of newly accused individuals.

Reports read that Glennon-Goodman was elected an appointed judge back in April of 2024. After working over two decades as an assistant public defender, she is said to have handled countless high-profile homicide cases.
