Cousins, it’s been a long time coming but we have officially arrived! Eddie Murphy has revealed that not only is a new ‘Shrek’ movie soon coming to a theater near you, but also that a solo film starring his beloved role as Donkey is on the way too!
While on a press run for his new movie Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, Eddie shared the news that they’ve already begun working on the latest chapter ‘Shrek 5’
“We started doing Shrek 4 or [Shrek] 5 months ago. I did this, I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up,” said the legendary comedian to Deadline.
“Shrek is coming out, and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey [movie].”
Though minimal details have been provided at this time, Eddie says that the highly anticipated movies are expected to hit theaters next year
“I think it’s coming out in 2025.”
According to HypeBeast, DreamWorks Animation and Universal has not yet announced the next upcoming installment of Shrek.
Also it hasn’t been confirmed if the rest of the original voice cast, including Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, are on board.
