Cousins! A young Mississippi boy has been cleared of all charges after being arrested last year for public urination, confirms his family’s attorney!

According to Blavity, the case against 11-year-old Quantaviois Easton was officially dismissed earlier this month after Tate County Youth Court Judge Rusty Harlow ruled against his arrest. The family’s attorney, Carlos Moore shared in a news release that Judge Harlow ruled that the young boy did not require supervision.

“This outcome is not just a victory for Eason and his family, but for juvenile justice advocates everywhere,” a news release from Moore’s firm stated. “This case has gained national attention due to its broader implications for juvenile justice and concerns about racial disparities within the legal system.”

Quantavious’ story gained national attention last year when he was arrested at the age of 10 years old. The incident took place last summer on August 10th as he was taken into custody at the Senatobia Police Department for urinating near his mother’s vehicle, as there were no public restrooms in the area.

In a September press conference, Latoya Eason detailed that an officer approached Quantavious as he relieved himself as she was inside a law office building. She says that the officer entered the building to notify her of the incident and that the ordeal seemed to be resolved after she reprimanded him.

However, it appears that several officers arrived on the scene including a lieutenant, and notified LaTonya that her son would be taken into custody.

In December Judge Harlow had initially ruled for Quantavious to serve three months probation and write a two-page essay on the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant. LaTonya argued that the probationary deal and said that the conditions were equivalent to an adult.

Carlos stated after the case’s dismissal that together they plan to sue the city, police chief, and officers involved in Quantavious’ wrongful arrest.

“I’m 99.9% sure that had he been a white child, he would not have been arrested,” said Carlos in a statement, reports NBC News.
