Cousins!

A Black TikTok user caught a Karen typing a racist text after accidentally whipping the woman with her braids when their flight landed!

Riah Elese had sat across the aisle from a racist woman during her flight home to Texas. When the plane finally landed, Riah went to grab her phone from one of her carry-ons and flipped her box braids, accidentally hitting Karen behind her.

Elese states that when she realized her hair hit the woman, she immediately apologized twice. The woman, in return, told her, “it’s okay, don’t worry about it.”

Well apparently, that wasn’t the case because Karen proceeded to send a racist text to her family group chat. Riah spotted the text while waiting to get off the plane and recorded the disrespectful text.

The unidentified woman described Riah’s hair as “nasty dreads/cornrows” in the message before attempting to sneak a picture of her.

Riah recalled the incident in a follow-up video, “The message basically said that she just got hit twice with the dreads/ cornrows of a COON — COON in all caps,” Elese said when she explained details of the incident. “She proceeded to call me disrespectful.”

Elese didn’t address the text, but she did confront the woman for snapping a picture of her. Riah said she called the woman disrespectful and told her not to take photos of people without their consent. Karen responded by saying Elese was “in her space.”

The original video has reached over 1 million views so far. Many people showed Elese their support after such a tragic experience, but others believe her recording the video was for clout and “an invasion of privacy.”

In the follow-up video, Riah said she recorded the video to show racism is still very much real. “I didn’t post this for clout,” she said. “I just posted it to show that racism is still a real thing in 2022. It’s crazy that some people think that it just magically doesn’t exist.”

Cousins, what are your thoughts on Karen’s racist text message?
