Reports read that city of Birmingham initially introduced the Pardon for Progress program in 2019 to help people with minor marijuana charges to get pardoned easier while having their charges sealed, and obtain employment easier.
This is a major step especially since possession of marijuana is still illegal within the state of Alabama. It has been indicated that lawmakers are currently discussing revisiting the idea of passing the marijuana bill despite prior efforts being denied.
