The former head nurse of #NewYorkCity’s Jacobi Medical Center’s psychiatric unit had voiced her concerns upon the lack of COVID-19 testing available for patients; unfortunately working hands on combating the virus lead to her untimely death!
Freda Ocran, 50 had worried for weeks about the end result of there being a decline in supplies needed to assist patients and staff officials properly, reports the New York Post.
“She had concerns, especially with working with patients and other staff and how long it was taking to be tested,” states her son Kwame Ocran,25. Sources have confirmed that confirmed that Freda passed away due to contagion if the virus on Saturday March.28th.
It has been indicated that Jacobi nurses held a rally outside of the hospital Saturday as they demand officials to provide protective gear for staff members.
“Without those tests being administered, there’s no way of knowing if she was working with someone who had it or not,” Kwame states. “She complained and was concerned about the precautions being taken.”
He goes on to state that him and his mother both had mild symptoms of the virus prior to Freda’s death. Unfortunately Freda continued to show up for work each day sick and all. Once her symptoms worsened she was sent home by officials without being tested for the virus. It wasn’t long before she was admitted to Lincoln medical where she was put on a ventilator and soon died.
“My mother is the most giving person I ever met,” concludes her son. “She was a beautiful soul.”
