Dezann Romain, 36 reigned as the Principal of Brooklyn Democracy Academy for the last three years reports the New York Post. The school serves as an alternative transfer for high school students who have either dropped out or lacked necessary credits needed for graduation. It has been indicated that Romain died from complications directly derived from #COVID19.
The school has released an official statement following Principal Romain’s death; “It is with profound sadness and overwhelming grief that we announce the passing of our sister, CSA member Dezann Romain, Principal of Brooklyn Democracy Academy, due to complications from Coronavirus
The statement goes on to conclude, “Our prayers are with her family and school community as we mourn alongside them. Please keep Principal Romain in your thoughts and continue to do everything possible to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe during this health crisis.”
Sources have confirmed that Romain had successfully been promoted from Assistant Principal within the 2016-2017 academic year.
Richard Carranza, the school’s Chancellor has come forward within an official statement, “This is painful for all of us, and I extend my deepest condolences to the Brooklyn Democracy Academy community, and family.”
“We’re all experiencing a deep sense of confusion, uncertainty and sadness and it’s more important than ever to provide support to one another. We’ll be there for the students and staff through whatever means necessary during this impossibly difficult time.”
