It has been a long and emotional journey but justice has finally been served in the case of the slain Bronx teen Lesandro “ Junior “ Guzman Felix.
According to the #DailyNews all 5 members of the Trinitarios gang that brutality executed 15 year old Junior, due to a deadly case of mistaken identity were all dished life sentences. Sources have confirmed that Judge Robert Neary issued the verdict earlier today within a Bronx court room.
“Certain words come to mind when I think about your involvement: Senseless, savage and most of all cowardly,” says Neary. “You and your fellow gang members chased down and slaughtered a 15-year-old defenseless boy in a gruesome manner. The court feels you deserve the maximum sentence.”
Reports read Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, who was seen in forwarded surveillance footage directly slashing Junior across his throat ,was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Jose Muniz, Elvin Garcia and Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez Santiago also received the sentencing of 25 years to life in prison. The youngest suspect Manuel River, 18 received a lesser punishment due to his age and was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
“These killers should never be able to step out of their jail cells,” said Junior’s mother Leandra Feliz during the court hearing. “I no longer have my kid. I don’t have someone to hug and kiss. My son should be in his junior year of high school, pursuing his dreams of being a police officer.”
“They killed an innocent kid,” Feliz continues. “Not a single one said ‘No, no, don’t do it.’ On this night, there were two deaths — Junior and I, who was left dead inside. … These criminals ripped him away from me.”
Though his family will never be able get the full closure they deserve from losing someone they loved dearly; we pray that they are more at ease knowing the group of men responsible for such a horrific act has received the proper punishment.
