Cousins! Nearly a month after news broke that Jeezy had decided to file for divorce from his wife of two years Jeannie Mai, the Georgia rapper has released an official statement!
In a statement shared throughout social media, Jeezy expresses that his choice to end this chapter in his life was made with a heavy heart and asks for privacy for both himself and their family.
“The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart. Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart. Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves.”
“During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”
As we previously reported, Jeezy, born Jay Jenkins filed for divorce on September 14th in Fulton County Court. It has been stated that the couple had already been separated before the filing, reads court documents.
Jeannie broke her silence in an appearance on the Sherri Shepherd show earlier this month as she said she turned off every single device after news began to circulate that Jeezy had filed for divorce.
“I’m not going to lie, it takes every day, to just really sit and just be quiet in your thoughts … take care of me.”
Jeanie says that her daughter Monaco has been a major help during this tough time as she refers to her as her North Star.
“I can definitely tell you that I don’t know if I would handle this the same way without [Monaco] because today, I’m able to look at her and I can say, ‘What would I advise you if you were in my shoes?’” Jeannie stated. “It changes everything, so I’m so thankful to be a mom and I’m thankful to have her.”
Please join us in keeping Jeezy, Jeannie, and their young daughter uplifted in prayer 🙏🏿
