Cousins! Megan Thee Stallion and members of 1501 Certified Entertainment are officially putting their legal issues to rest following news that a settlement has been reached!
According to Billboard, the three-year legal battle between the Houston, Texas rapper and her former record label has been resolved as the two parties have decided to “amicably part ways.”
On Thursday morning, an attorney for 1501 says that both sides, “mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences.”
It has been stated that the details of the reached settlement have been sealed and will not be disclosed to the public.
“Megan Thee Stallion and 1501 Certified Entertainment are pleased to announce that they have mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences. As part of the arrangement, both parties have agreed to amicably part ways. Both Megan and 1501 are pleased to put this matter behind them and move forward with the next chapter of their respective businesses.
“1501’s President Carl Crawford said: “All of us at 1501 wish Megan the very best in her life and career,” reads a statement from 1501’s Instagram on Thursday afternoon.
Megan and 1501 had been battling it out in court over the last few years as she claimed the company had wrongfully taken advantage of her as a young artist.
The Grammy award-winning rapper says that she was conned into signing an unfair record deal in 2018 that was below industry standards.
Megan has stated that it wasn’t until 2019 after signing a new management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, did she discovered the deal she had previously signed was “crazy.”
