Wanda and Leon have been through A LOT, and their relationship has never been a simple love story. Now, as the characters enter a new chapter in The Drop, fans are getting a closer look at what happens when two people with so much history continue to navigate love, change, and everything that comes with it.

NoirOnlineOrg caught up exclusively with The Drop stars Gail Bean and Isaiah John, who opened up about stepping back into the roles of Wanda and Leon and bringing their complicated relationship to life.

When asked about returning to their characters and where things stand between the couple, John admitted that their journey reflects just how difficult relationships can be, even when two people have been through it all together.

“I mean, I was excited, you know, to be able to explore where Leon is in this new world,” John shared before acknowledging the challenges that come with the couple’s history.

“We’ve experienced so many ups and downs. You know, it’s just like the dynamics of a relationship is hard. You know, it’s hard.”

And if there’s one thing about Wanda and Leon, it’s that their relationship has never been easy to define. According to Bean, their dynamic is all about the constant push and pull between two people trying to figure things out.

“I think the beauty I do love about Leon and Wanda is while it’s a push and pull, while one person is pushing, the other is pulling, and it’s just so beautiful to see this dance,” she explained.

But while that back-and-forth is part of what makes their relationship so compelling, stepping back into Wanda’s shoes required Bean to embrace some changes of her own.

The actress revealed that returning to the character meant letting go of the version of Wanda she had grown accustomed to portraying and approaching her from an entirely different perspective.

“It was a bit of a mourning of the character that I thought Wanda was, and having to reinvent her in this new world,” Bean said.

She also admitted that embracing that change wasn’t necessarily easy.

“Part of you, I’m a Sagittarius, so by nature I don’t like change,” she shared. “So having to, like, it was like I was grasping onto something that I needed to let go of, so I could truly grow and evolve.”

And that evolution matters when it comes to Wanda and Leon. After everything they’ve experienced, the question isn’t just whether they love each other, but how they navigate the people they’re becoming and what that means for their relationship moving forward.

Through all the emotional twists and turns, Bean also credited John for being a consistent source of support throughout the process, highlighting the teamwork that helped bring their characters’ complicated dynamic to the screen.

As fans continue following Wanda and Leon in The Drop, their relationship remains a reminder that love isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes, it’s about figuring out how to move forward when life, circumstances, and even the people you love continue to change.
