Basketball Star Angel Reese Launches Sports & Financial Literacy Foundation Dedicated to Empowering The Next Generation Of Women!

Cousins! Louisiana State University’s “Bayou Barbie” continues to make plays on and off the court. Her next move? Building a foundation that solely aims to empower young girls through sports, financial literacy, and education!

During a conversation with sports journalist Taylor Rooks at the annual Variety + Sportico Sports and Entertainment Summit, the 2023 NCAA women’s basketball champion announced the launching of the Angel C. Reese Foundation. Her foundation’s mission is to provide equal opportunities for young women in areas where they have been overlooked.

“The Angel C. Reese Foundation will aim to foster equity for girls and underrepresented groups through innovative and impactful initiatives, develop practical solutions to overcome systemic challenges, and provide comprehensive resources that empower a new generation of girls to excel in sports and successfully transition to the real world,” according to a statement shared with Essence.

Reese’s Foundation will offer basketball camps, financial literacy programs, and scholarships for girls affiliated with the organization. The LSU small forwards organization will include continual community programming and host holiday events.

As reported by On3NIL, the basketball star’s foundation plans to kick off Aug. 19, 2023, with a “Back-to-School Giveback Block Party” as the inaugural event.

Angel will be present handing out school supplies, backpacks, clothes, food, and even living essentials to children of the community. The block party will be held at Reese’s alma mater, Saint Frances Academy, in Baltimore.
