A shocking survey has placed the spotlight on UK men and it is pretty alarming!
According to new research, almost half of UK’s single men don’t change their bedsheets for up to four months! Ew, we hope they don’t bring women home to a bed full of who knows what.
The survey of 2,250 adults found that men have worse hygiene than women for their bedding, but all it improves once they enter into a relationship, reports Yahoo! News.
Here is when things get a little analytical; while 12 percent say they wash them when they remember, 45 percent say they wait up to four months to wash their sheets. On the brighter side, 62 percent of women say they wash their sheets every two weeks and 25 percent of single men say they wash their bedding at the same rate.
Now 35 percent of people in relationships change their bedding every three weeks, while 27 percent said they change their bedding once a month. Also, 18 percent said they shower at night so their bed won’t get dirty.
The excuses for forgetting to change their bedsheets are forgetfulness and believing bedsheets don’t need to be changed frequently.
A bedding retailer, Pizuna, recommends that bedsheets, bed linen, and pillowcases should be washed once a week. Also, they add that Blankets and duvets should be cleaned every two to three months and pillows should be washed every four to six months.
Brand communications manager at Pizuna, Aureen Chinchpure, “Washing your sheets regularly can really help to improve your health and wellbeing, skin and even your mental health, and might even help you to get a much better night’s sleep.”
“At current times, when sleep health awareness is on the rise and more people would love to get into bed with clean, fresh sheets, it’s surprising that many people, whether they’re single or in a relationship, may leave it a number of weeks before changing their bedding – longer than the recommended,” Chinchpure said.
