Cousins! The 10 year old boy from Wisconsin, Milwaukee accused of fatally shooting his mother, made his very first court appearance this week!
According to reports from ABC News, the small child appeared in court on Wednesday wearing a shirt from the detention center he’s currently being held in. He is said to have sat quietly with his head down majority of the time.
As we previously reported the young boy initially told police officials that he had been playing with a firearm in the house and it went off fatally striking his mother.
After displaying emotionally disassociated behavior to his mother’s passing, his family advised officials to take a deeper look at the series of events within the November incident. Soon after he admitted to shooting his mother in the face as he was upset about being denied a particular a toy from Amazon.
He is currently being charged with first degree intentional homicide by prosecutors.”The complaint alleges that the victim was shot at very close range in the head,” says Judge Carroll.
Within the scheduled court appearance the young boy’s attorney Angela Cunningham asked if bail could be reduced from 50,000 to 100 as he has no income.
“We have spoken to him about his ability to post anything. He told us about piggy banks with savings that he had from gifts, from birthday gifts. And scavenging through cushions in the couch that he’s been able to save up,” said Angela.
Reports read that the judge declined to reduce bail even after being told the child only has $100.
It has been stated that if he is unable to post bail, he may remain in custody potentially for the rest of life, if convicted.
The next hearing in the case is set for January 19.
