A Florida mother’s weekend getaway ended in handcuffs after she was arrested for leaving her four young children unsupervised while she traveled on a cruise to the Bahamas!
Nathalie Belizaire was arrested Monday morning after exiting Carnival cruise line at PortMiami. According to NBC Miami News, the 26 year old took a three day cruise beginning on the 25th; after leaving her four children, including a two year old and two month old baby home alone.
Authorities say the father of her two month old child noticed her posting a cruise line ticket on social media earlier in the week. He says he first saw the ticket on WhatsApp and when he asked Nathalie about it, she said that she planned to leave the kids with her great grandmother.
According to KTVL 10 News, the father went to Nathalie’s home a few days later on Saturday September 26th. He recalled seeing the television on through the blinds and hearing the children talking; which led to him calling 911.
“—”left all four minor children, including a 2-month-old infant and a 2-year-old child, inside the residence without adult supervision while the defendant traveled out of town aboard a Carnival Conquest cruise ship,”,” reads an official arrest warrant.
Authorities contacted the great grandmother following the incident. She told investigators that Nathalie said, “she would be dropping the children off because she was going out of town.”
However she never did.
Nathalie’s brother told officers that she had texted him later that night telling him to go check on her kids.
Following her return on Monday September 28, Nathalie was arrested at PortMiami and taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. She was later released to North Miami Beach police.
“You cannot make this up. It says she went on a cruise and left her children home alone,” Judge Mindy Glazer said during the hearing. “These poor kids, four of them, were home alone for three days … I’m just grateful nothing worse happened to these kids.”
The four children have been placed in foster care following Nathalie’s arrest. After paying a $10,000 bond, she was released from prison but ordered to stay away from her kids
