On Thursday morning the death of YouTuber and self proclaimed relationship therapist, Kevin Samuels was originally reported by the popular blog site of GossipInThe City.

As social media users continued throughout the day to circulate the report, the tragic news has now been confirmed by both the Atlanta Police Department as well as Kevin’s mother!

According to NBC News, on the morning of May 5th Kevin was discovered unresponsive within his apartment.

His mother Beverly Samuels-Burch, told the outlet through a phone call interview, that she was notified of his passing through social media as well. “That was a terrible thing for social media to put that out. I didn’t even know. I hadn’t even been notified.” She continues in saying, “All I’m doing is requesting that people pray for us.”

Sources confirm that an unidentified woman also indicated to be a nurse was on the scene when officials arrived. She explained that she had met Kevin the night before, on May 4th and that she had spent the night at his apartment with him.

She says the next morning on May 5th he complained of chest pains. While the woman reportedly attempted to help him, Kevin had fell on top of her. The woman called 911 dispatch . When officials arrived Kevin was identified as unresponsive and was taken to Piedmont hospital.

Ms Beverly has provided no specific details on her son’s passing or what may have caused it.

Kevin had a social media following of 1.2 million followers and 1.4 million YouTube subscribers. His weekly Instagram live segments often went viral as his relationship advice to women specifically in the Black community stirred controversy. Though many disagreed with his opinions and personal views, Kevin’s impact was definitely felt.
