According to USA Today news, Real estate agent Eric Brown was showing a property to a gentleman named Roy Thorne, who brought his 15 year old son Samuel along.

A neighbor called the police, believing it was a previously arrested individual who had returned and unlawfully entered the property once again. The problem is, the suspect drove a Mercedes and the only two vehicles at the scene were not.

Samuel was the first to notice they were being surrounded, he alerted his father and Mr Brown. All three had guns drawn on them, were handcuffed and detained in separate police cars. They were only released when Brown finally proved what he did for a living. Brown later told the media he believed they would have been shot.

They would have never been treated in this manner had they not been black; is their position in their lawsuit confirmed by USA Today.

Darker hued individuals are being subjected to having police called on them. Simply existing in this world, and doing mundane activities like walking, swimming, jogging, driving, shopping and now realtor showings (SWB – Showing While Black) can be added to the list.
