After a long three month hiatus from social media and the overall music industry, #NickiMinaj has entered the new year swinging. Like a thief in the night she recently popped up on Instagram not only serving looks alongside her husband Mr. Petty but also issuing a sneak peak of new music!
Minaj dropped a quick one minute video preview of her never released single titles “ Yikes,” late Monday night setting the internet on fire. Though many of her fans went crazy with excitement screaming for more; a specific historical icon name drops caused more controversy than she could’ve expected.

Nicki Minaj consistently disrespects Foundational Black American icons in her raps and cover art, like Malcolm X and now Rosa Parks, because as a Trinidadian, she doesn’t identify with our FBA lineage. She would never say anything disrespectful about Trinidadian icons

Many social media users are deeming the lyrics innocent and state that the Young Money rapper meant no malice, other users protest that this is not the first time Minaj has disrespected an African American legendary leader.
Although Rosa Parks was sitting down, she made an impact. But others are lazy, “sitting down,” trying to attain an equal result as Rosa, so they trying to make an impact but their approach isn’t getting them there. So basically they gotta “get their ass up” and get to work….
