NBA all star #LebronJames is showing and proving that he is fully dedicated to inflicting a positive change within his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Not only has he established a fully developed grade school for young children but he is also in the works of providing a safe house for those enrolled students also!
According to #CNN ; LeBron is currently in the process of building a safe living space for students attending his I PROMISE school. Sources have confirmed that he wants to provide a stable home for each student while they get their education.
“Initially, our work was focused on helping these kids earn an education. But we’ve found that it is impossible to help them learn if they are struggling to survive — if they are hungry, if they have no heat in the freezing winter, if they live in fear for their safety,” James states within a forwarded statement. “We want this place to be their home where they feel safe, supported, and loved, knowing we are right there with them every step of the way as they get back on their feet.
The I PROMISE school was established by LeBron’s Foundation in 2018; upon the initiative of providing education for at risk third and fourth graders. Sources have confirmed that by 2022 Lebron hopes to expand the school and provide education for grades first through eighth. Also promising to provide free tuition to each student at the University of Akron upon graduating.
LeBron took to Twitter on Monday to share his excitement; “Proud of this!!!!”
“There’s always more to be done when it comes to giving my kids an opportunity to be successful in life. Every barrier we remove can possibly change their family’s life and we’re never going to stop!!”
CNN Reports : The foundation is working on the project with Graduate Hotels, which operates boutique hotels in college towns around the United States. Graduate will renovate the historic Westmont apartment building, located roughly five blocks from the school in Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood, and the donate it to the school.
Way to go King James!
