A North Carolina Chick-fil-A employee has been crowned a real-life hero after discovering almost $10,000 in cash inside a men’s restroom and making the kind decision to return it!
18-year-old Jaydon Cintron was in the middle of his break on Friday, April 3, when he came across two white envelopes sitting in a bathroom stall. Instead of pocketing the money, Jaydon says he immediately knew something wasn’t right.
“They were on the floor next to the toilet. My first thought was just like… okay, no, this isn’t happening. Something is wrong,” he shared.
According to reports from WITN, one envelope labeled First Citizens Bank held $5,000, while another from Truist Bank contained $4,333 bringing the total to just under $10K. Without hesitation, Jaydon brought the money straight to his manager, and the restaurant attempted to track down the owner using security footage.
By the next morning the rightful owner came forward.
When asked why he didn’t just keep the money, his answer was simple but powerful: “That’s not what Jesus would’ve done. That’s not what God would’ve wanted.”
The grateful owner reportedly tried to gift Jaydon $500 as a reward, but he initially declined making it clear he wasn’t looking for a payout. After being urged multiple times, he eventually accepted.
Even local officials took notice, praising Jaydon for doing the right thing when no one was watching.
“ A lot of people will… unfortunately, take that money and run with it,” said Kinston Police Chief Keith Goyette.
