Whew chile—the jail break saga out of New Orleans just took a wild turn!

59-year-old Connie Weeden, the grandmother of escaped inmate #JermaineDonald, has officially been arrested and hit with a felony charge after investigators say she sent her grandson money while he was on the run from police!

According to Louisiana State Police, Donald was one of 10 inmates who broke out of the Orleans Justice Center earlier this month. The group made headlines after removing a toilet and crawling through a hole in the wall to make their escape. But instead of laying low, it looks like Donald was still keeping in touch with his people—and Granny was allegedly right there to help him out.

Detectives say Connie not only communicated with her grandson before and after the breakout, but also sent him funds through a cellphone cash transfer app. Now she’s facing one felony count of accessory after the fact, and was taken into custody in St. Tammany Parish.

Jermaine, who’s still on the run, is wanted on multiple serious charges including second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm. At the time of this post, five of the ten escapees are still on the loose.
